Postdoctoral Researcher In The Political Economy Of Climate Risk And Insurance H/F - Service Public

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position at the Toulouse School of Economics, within the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences, to work on the political economy of climate risk, insurance, and redistribution with Charlotte Cavaille, Professor of Political Science.

The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to a broader research agenda examining how climate change is transforming insurance markets and the politics surrounding them. Relevant topics include the distribution of climate-related risks, the affordability and availability of insurance, public and private mechanisms for pooling risk, the regulation of insurance markets, climate finance, and the distributive consequences of alternative insurance arrangements.

The precise research project will be developed jointly by the Principal Investigator, Charlotte Cavaille, and the successful candidate. Candidates will be encouraged to pursue their own research interests and ideas, provided that they fit broadly within the themes of climate finance.

The successful candidate will be joining an active and diverse groups of IAST post-doctoral fellows working in fields such as evolutionary anthropology, psychology, economics, and quantitative sociology.

Applicants should hold, or expect to hold by the start of the position, a PhD in political science, economics, finance, sociology, public policy, or a closely related discipline.

Candidates should have a strong interest in climate finance, climate insurance, and/or the political economy of insurance and redistribution. In addition, applicants should bring at least one of the following:

· expertise or substantive knowledge in finance, financial markets, or insurance;

· German-language proficiency sufficient for conducting research using German-language sources and/or interviews;

· Experience conducting elite interviews or other forms of qualitative fieldwork with hard-to-reach groups.

Candidates combining several of these skills are particularly welcome, but this is not a requirement.
